Jon Rance Consultant

Jon has been working in IT Services for almost 30 years, most recently with key players in the Middle East.

Starting as a Systems Administrator in 1997, Jon moved quickly into Managed Services, with special interest in Government and Finance. He worked as a service architect for Logica, before being promoted to Service Director for Enterprise services, responsible for hosted services for all UK customers.

After leaving Logica, Jon moved into Telecoms, working to produce OSS systems and supporting – among others – Comcast and Liberty Media. As Head of IT for Betsson Group, Jon designed and fitted out a new data centre in Malta, where he became interested in Hyperconverged Infrastructure, and increased efficiency of computing services as a whole.

Jon was responsible for a major audit of STC (Saudi Telecoms Co.) data centres, auditing six major data centres between 2021 and 2022.  During this time, he became interested in the efficiency afforded by immersion cooling, as well as sustainable building practices, going on to work with the World Bank and an Asian government to evaluate the possibility of creating a new IT hosting power in the region.

Jon has recently developed the strategy for the deployment of Edge Data Centres in the Neom Programme in KSA. He secured approval for the extensive use of immersion cooling from the Neom Board based on the efficiency and power density achievable even in the harsh environment of the region.
